The Challenge

Drownings stands as a major cause of injury and fatalities among children below 5 years of age.  Selecting a responsible adult supervisor at the pool enhances monitoring and minimizes the drowning hazards.  Although many parents oversee while at the pool, they frequently overlook the crucial pre-and post-pool safety measures. 

The Solution 

This video offers guidelines for parents to consider before, during and after their time at the pool.  Each tip is accompanied by an animated element to reinforce the concept in the viewer's mind.

The Results

The anticipated results for this project is to see a reduction in the number of pool related accidents with young children.

The project began with an article from Phoenix Children's Hospital.  I then created a rough outline in Canva. I used it to map out the full learner experience, making sure each section of before, during and after pool time was clearly laid out. My goal was to visualize how everything would flow together, so learners could move through the video with a understanding of all the steps needs to safely supervise.

After sketching the initial outline in Canva, I transitioned into drafting a written and visual storyboard to map out each design element in detail. Using Canva, I laid out the flow and structure, then developed a script to ensure each tip was clearly defined and easy to follow. This process helped me stay organized and made sure the final video would unfold in a logical, learner-friendly sequence.
